September 4, 2026 Post-Publication Review Record: Cognitive Infrastructure and Human-AI Developmental Frameworks

This note records a formal post-publication review concern.

On September 2, 2026, I submitted a publication-ethics request to MDPI regarding possible uncited conceptual and structural overlap between my earlier work in Human-AI Cognitive Development, Third Organism, Cognitivity Sculpting, and Wrappers as Cognitive Infrastructure, and the later article:

“Cognitive Entanglement: Toward a Developmental Framework of the Human-AI Coevolutionary Leap”
by Xiao-Kun Wu, Min Chen, and Giancarlo Fortino, published in Big Data and Cognitive Computing on August 5, 2026.

The MDPI article describes cognitive entanglement as a developmental framework for sustained Human-AI coupling. Its abstract states that large language models have become routine participants in everyday cognition and that the relevant question is whether sustained AI use preserves, weakens, or reorganizes users’ cognitive capacities. It also shifts attention from AI as a tool or automation system toward the developmental consequences of sustained Human-AI interaction.

That topic is close to the field I founded through Cognitivity Sculpting: Foundations of Human-AI Cognitive Development and the Third Organism research ecosystem.

The concern is not that another article discusses Human-AI interaction.

The concern is more specific: possible uncited overlap in framework architecture, terminology, functional structure, and chronology, especially around Human-AI developmental relations, cognitive infrastructure, identity-level interaction, continuity, boundaries, and the conditions under which cognition is preserved or weakened through sustained AI contact.

MDPI’s version notes show that the article PDF was uploaded as the Version of Record on August 5, 2026.

A supporting evidence dossier is being prepared for the journal’s Editorial Office. It will include publication details, manuscript and book excerpts, dated provenance materials, and a side-by-side comparison table identifying the specific documentable overlap.

This public note does not assert motive. It does not prejudge the outcome of the editorial review. It records that a formal review request has been initiated and that supporting evidence is being prepared through the appropriate editorial channel.

This distinction matters.

Human-AI Cognitive Development is an emerging field direction. As surrounding research begins to approach similar questions, it becomes increasingly important to preserve dated authorship, conceptual lineage, and the difference between independent adjacent work and work that may require citation, correction, or clarification.

The purpose of this record is not accusation. The purpose is provenance.

A field can welcome contribution without losing its origin.

A later article can be reviewed without public hostility.

A concern can be raised formally, calmly, and with evidence.

That is the approach I am taking here.
